  • SHA/ School-Home Association: An organization at my school akin to a PTA/Parent-Teacher Association. This group fundraises for our school and hosts potlucks and other events to bring families together. It is called the SHA instead of the PTA because the success of a child is dependent upon more than the Parents and Teachers working together. Multiple people at the school and multiple people at the home must work together to support the child. The term PTA is exclusive because not all children are being cared for by their parents. PTA would also be inaccurate since Montessori schools have ‘Guides’, not ‘Teachers’.
